Mizquitl is the Nahuatl word for 'mesquite' a leguminus tree of the genus Prosopis that is found in Northern Mexico and the Southwestern United States.

Daniel Garrison Brinton (1837 - 1899) translated Ancient Nahuatl Poetry which makes reference to mizquitl.
